Several years ago I saw a vision of two doorways, side by side, each filled with fire. They looked identical – one on the left, one on the right – and somehow I knew I had to choose the one I would walk through. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? First of all, why is walking through a fiery doorway even a choice at all? But this vision was from God and I knew I had to make a decision. So, I asked the Lord, “What’s the difference between them? They look the same.” He revealed their difference to me saying, “Though they look the same, one is a fire that consumes. The other a fire that purifies.”
The fiery doorways I saw are like so many countless decisions we make in life. And if we’re making them all on our own we can only hope they’re the right ones – the ones that won’t consume us. But when we ask God for His help, we can know without a doubt which doors to walk through; passing through them unscathed, and even purified.
“But who will be able to endure the day he comes? Who will be able to survive on the day he appears? He is like a purifying fire and like a cleansing soap.” Malachi 3:2
“John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with[a] water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.'” Luke 3:16
